We often think of fire as a purely destructive force but did you know that fire is important to the existence of California’s giant redwood trees? Yes, redwood trees depend on forest fires to clear out other plant life that competes for valuable resources in the forest such as other trees and shrubs. Because the bark of redwood trees is fire resistant, they stand protected from the same fires that consume other plants in the forest.
So what does this have to do with Stathakis? At Stathakis we often get small complaints that must be immediately dealt with that we refer to as "fires." While it's never fun for a Supervisor to re-plan their day or evening around a customer complaint, they do force us to focus on what is important to our customers. Like the fires in the redwood forest, complaints help “cut through the noise” and reexamine and refocus our valuable resources on what we know is important to our customers. We also study complaints and look for trends to figure a better way of doing things in the future so that the complaints don't reoccur. This will hopefully "fire proof" us for the future like the bark of the giant redwood trees.
Did you know that the redwood species produces the largest and tallest trees in the world? And some redwoods can live to be over 2,000 years old. I see Stathakis like the redwoods. While no one likes to receive complaints from their customers, it does make us a better company and it metephorically 'thickens our bark'. At Stathakis, we learn from our mistakes. We endeavor to outlast the competition and build the thick barks and healthy root systems like those massive California redwoods. And when the ‘fires’ come blazing through, be it a struggling economy, major changes in healthcare or an influx of startups, we stand strong and fireproof.
