A few months ago a client of ours came to me with a problem. He had been alerted that his company was hosting some very important visitors that would be touring their facilities. So he called me in a panic to see if we could help him to make sure that the building looked its best.
I spent almost two hours arranging things around in a way that would work for him without stressing out our operations team or inconveniencing another client. It was a lot of work but I wanted to show him that we work hard to be where we're needed.
Two days later I stopped by the site to check in with him. "Chris," he said as he looked me in the eye, "thank you, I was in a really tight spot on this one and your teams came through, this could have been a big mess for us and ultimately cost our company but instead you guys pulled together to get it done and it was impressive." I left feeling about two feet taller and the gratitude he expressed, well it changed how I interacted with people all day from our team to my family when I got home that night. That is the power of a sincere "thank you."
Great customer service starts with people. One of our Core Values at Stathakis is "Appreciation of Individuals." Every individual at Stathakis is capable of making a positive, valuable contribution to the work we do and to the world we live in. As human beings we all want to be appreciated. Appreciation can be as easy as saying "Thank you." So let me start by saying "Thank you" to you for choosing Stathakis as the place you want to work.
Now ask yourself these questions:
- Do you feel appreciated here at Stathakis?
- Do you show appreciation to other people working here? Appreciation works in both directions.
- When is the last time you said "Thank you" to a coworker for helping you out when you needed a favor?
- Have you thanked a customer lately? Thank yous are free and we never run out of them. You can be the change you want to see by using thank yous and gratitude to lift up someone else and at the same time, yourself.
Many time more than not I have to remind myself to say "thank you" to those around me who make performing customer miracles possible. So I want to take this opportunity to say a heart felt "THANK YOU" to all those of you who are part of our team here at Stathakis. I am so proud of the work we do to be great for all our clients on a daily basis.
